Guys, this is the grungiest look I have ever blogged about and I absolutely love it. I’m a huge fan of making things my own. I love taking dope trends and giving them my own little twist. This explains why fashion has become one of my main outlets for self-expression. I talked about this in my previous blog post but I’ve recently given it more thought and have come to realize how important fashion has also been throughout my journey towards self-discovery.
Being able to express myself and show my personality through the clothes I wear is one of my favorite things to do. The more I get into this, the deeper it takes me into a path of self-exploration. A simple look can showcase one’s emotions, current state, or even be utilized to deliver a socio-political message. I also enjoy breaking the norm and testing my limits with pieces which take me out of my comfort zone, while keeping it real and always staying true to myself.
I like to keep things fresh and for this look I’ve partnered with Dr. Martens and Wilsons Leather to go for something a bit bolder and edgier. Truth be told, I’m not the most feminine gal when it comes to fashion. I’ll go for sultry and sexy, and from time to time I could rock a cool skirt or a dress but being cute and chic are not really my go-to’s. A while ago, I remember thinking, “I have to look cute for the blog and try those girly looks other girls are doing.” But this wasn’t me, it wasn’t what I was about, and I want to empower my readers to be genuine and to not be afraid to be different.
Regarding my look, I’m all about this Hooded Leather Scuba from Wilson’s Leather. Buttery-soft leather and a whole lot of badassery. Not pictured in my shoot is how this jacket comes with a cozy hooded knit bib, which you can zip on and off as you please, giving you twice the wearing options in one jacket! As I paired it up with an already cozy green sweater from Zara, the application wasn’t necessary this time around but I’m positive I’ll be wearing it more as Spring settles in. All their Black Rivet brand jackets have an ageless attitude and a slim, modern fit, making them timeless pieces for your wardrobe.
Kicking it up a notch, I’m sporting Dr. Martens’ Clemency Greenland boot in tan. It’s low heel deceptively transforms a classic silhouette into a very contemporary look—an exciting new opportunity for this established classic. The heel gives me the right amount of height, while still being comfortable enough to walk the streets of NYC in them for a full day, without torturing my feet (I talk from experience). This is because the Clemency 8-eye boot is made out of Greenland Leather and has the iconic AirWair Bouncing Soles which makes the Dr. Martens boot so comfortable! The boot is Goodyear welted, meaning the upper portion and sole were sewn together in their heat-sealed z-welt stitch for enhanced comfort. These slip-resistant boots have a subtle, worn finished leather look and paired with fishnets turn out to be absolute magic.
Before I say my goodbyes, I want to leave you all with this: Don’t be afraid to experiment. Don’t be afraid to try new things and see what fits and what doesn’t. This will only help to better define who you are on a personal, emotional, and physical level. If you scroll over my blog topics, you’ll see one of them is Lifestyle + Self-Discovery. In this little corner of the internet, I don’t just want to talk about fashion, life in NYC, brunch, and first world problems–there’s already too much of this. I want to touch on meaningful topics and share my experiences on self-discovery, which is an ever-evolving process, and how fashion has been crucial to helping me find who I am and how I define myself as an individual. Now, go out into the world and do you!
