Let’s cut to the chase.
How are you feeling right now? How are you feeling at this very exact moment?
Take a few seconds to think about it.
Are you satisfied? Do you feel happy? Are you proud of what you’ve accomplished so far? Yes? No? Maybe?
Truth be told, this is my personal mental and emotional checklist. It’s become extremely useful when shaping and better defining the next steps in my life’s journey, and I can’t emphasize enough on the importance of keeping these aspects of your life in check at all times.
I am aware of the depth within these questions and of the anxiousness the mere thought of them may bring to some. It is perfectly understandable because they are all touching mind-boggling matters which, like it or not, you are currently experiencing, and nothing can be more frightening than coming face to face with yourself and with your truth.
Living is easy with eyes closed, and heck, it's way easier to point fingers at others and to judge them based on their opinions and choices. On the flipside, taking a good look at yourself in this mirror I am holding in front of you right now might be more of a challenge.
But addressing these issues shouldn’t be a matter of fear, it should rather empower you to take a closer look at yourself and at the things you genuinely desire.
As you're reading this, I want you to dig a little deeper within yourself. Think about where your life's currently heading towards. Where do you see yourself in the next year or two? What are your long-term goals? Is there something your heart might be craving to carry out and you’re a little hesitant to pursue? Have you been evaluating the possibility of undertaking a significant risk in the near future?
I know, I am doing it again. I am asking you the tough questions, but I am doing so because I've been there. I've been scared of change, of trying new things, and of taking big leaps without a visible safety net in sight.
Beautiful soul who is reading this, I would love for you to do the same. Don't just dare to dream, go out there and chase those dreams down! You owe it to yourself to be happy and to do everything within your power to achieve your goals and objectives.
So tell me, what scares you the most? Stepping out of your comfort zone, fear of failure, or both? I’m asking you this because when I’ve been presented with unique opportunities or when focusing all of my efforts in creating a new enterprise of my own, what's scared me the most has been my irrational fear of the unknown and the overall uncertainty behind undertaking new endeavors. I’m telling you there’s nothing more thrilling, overwhelming, and paralyzing than fear of “what is going to happen next,” when you have absolutely no idea what that 'next' could be or even look like.
Let’s rewind for a second, because I want to get to the bottom of this. Fear is a natural emotion. Experiencing it should never paralyze or inhibit you from achieving your greatest potential.
“But I'm afraid of the unknown.”
Well, aren’t we all? It's called human nature. Would you rather play it safe? Would you rather not take a risk, which will eventually get you closer to where you want to be? The outcome will always be uncertain, but as long as you work your hardest and give it your best, you have nothing to lose!
If your goals don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough. You wouldn't believe the number of times I've heard this. It's funny because it never made sense to me until I tried it on my own; until I faced my fears and insecurities, and told them “Screw you, I'm going for what I want and nothing can’t stop me!” Seriously! If you want to see real change in your life, real progress in your course of action, get out there and make things happen. No matter how scary, uncertain, unpredictable, or risky things may seem, if you don’t step out of your comfort zone and actively pursue your aspirations, nobody else will do it for you.
“I am afraid of stepping out of my comfort zone.”
So how are you going to get anywhere if you’re consistently choosing to stay in the same place? Yes, it’s familiar, it’s warm, and it’s cozy, but you want to hear the honest truth? Comfort is the forerunner of mediocrity.
Yes, yes it is.
Now, I don’t believe you’re an average Joe, my friend. I seriously think you’re an extraordinary individual. If you’ve read this far into my post, something must have clicked, and that’s what sets you apart! You want to be bold, brave, and different. You want to leave your mark on this planet and create something remarkable. You know what, I support you all the freaking way! I honestly believe you can accomplish whatever you set your heart, mind, and soul to, but at the end of the day, it is up to you to step up and show everyone what you are capable of achieving. It is up to you to go out and devise something so magnificent; you will forever be proud of the moment you chose to ditch your fears and conquer the universe.
What do you say? Things don't look as scary once you look at them from this angle. Now go out, work hard, and set that game plan in motion.
I believe in you,
